Your tour of Provence starts in Avignon TGV train station. The group will meet in the afternoon and drive to the Auberge - an 1800s
grand house converted into a stylish hotel with all the modern conveniences, and with picturesque views of the Luberon range. You
will have time to relax and get to know your surroundings before meeting for your first delicious
Provençal Dinner together at the
restaurant of the Hotel
.  (D)

Day 2:  L’Isle-Sur-La Sorgue, Fontaine-de-Vaucluse - SUNDAY
Wake up and smell the coffee. Your vacation in Provence off to a good start. After Breakfast, you will head to the famous Sunday
market at L’Isle-Sur-La Sorgue
. The town is called the “Venice” of Provence because it is built on five branches of the Sorgue
River. The River flows through the town and moss-covered paddlewheels can be seen everywhere along the canals in front of
residences. The Sunday market is also known for its antique finds. You will have time to mingle and to explore this charming town
on your own and maybe have a picnic lunch from the produce of the various vendors.  This afternoon, we will head to another
picturesque town Fontaine-de-Vaucluse. A key feature is the unique site of a river gushing up out of the ground.    Tonight,
you will be greeted by one of the chefs of Gordes in his own house where you will prepare Dinner with him
in the
magnificent landscape of Provence.

Day 3:   Hillside Villages: Lacoste, Roussillon - MONDAY
Start your day with yummy French pastries and homemade jams for breakfast. You'll definitely want to have plenty of film in your
camera today because you will be visiting some spectacular hillside villages in the land that author Peter Mayle made famous in
his book "A Year in Provence".  Our first stop will be the picturesque village of
Lacoste, which is known for its most notorious
resident, the Marquis de Sade, who lived in the castle at the top of the town.  Then you will have
a one-of-a-kind experience at a
goat farm, where you will have Lunch with specialty treats
on long wooded tables outdoors while surrounded by the green
horizons of the countryside. This afternoon, we will head to
Roussillon, an ocre-red village from the outside. It’s even more
spectacular inside the village -- red, orange, brown, yellow, and peach-coloured stone buildings and colorful medieval streets.
(Bauxite in the soil accounts for the many colours used in construction and paint.)  Your tour in Provence continues with a
visit to a family-owned olive mill for olive oil tasting.  Tonight, we will "dine with the locals" in a village bistro. (B,L,D)

Day 4:  Avignon,  Chateauneuf du Pape - TUESDAY
After Breakfast, we depart for Avignon to enjoy a guided walking tour of this famous fortified city which was home to various
Popes during the "Great Schism" which occurred in the late Middle Ages.
Near the Palace of the Popes is one of the many
carousels which are found in larger Provençal Medieval cities
.  After working up an appetite, you will "dine like the French"
Lunch in Les Halles market.  After lunch, we will drive to Chateauneuf du Pape, world famous for its Cotes de Rhone
wines and spectacular vineyards.  The village is almost completely dedicated to its world famous wine “chateauneuf du pape”.
Tasting is a must., so you will experience
a wine and chocolate paired tasting, and have time to visit the village.   Tonight's
Dinner will be at a superb organic butcher shop/restaurant which is a long-time favourite of local residents and which
has been owned by the same family since 1928.

Day 5:   St. Rémy, Glanum, Gordes - WEDNESDAY
No tour of Provence is complete without visiting St. Rémy and its bustling market on a Wednesday. Seduced by the setting and
atmosphere, many writers, painters and musicians chose to live here, including Vincent Van Gogh.  You will have time to walk
around the many stalls, and to enjoy the colors and the fragrant aromas.  Before we go to Lunch, we will visit a master chocolatier
to taste some amazing, unique combinations.  Time permitting, we'll drive past the
Roman ruins and archaeological
excavations at
Glanum, literally next to the asylum into which Van Gogh committed himself, and where the original olive
trees which appear in many of his paintings, still thrive.
Then, you will have an unforgettable authentic Provençal lunch
prepared by a local resident and friend, LoLo, at his farm.
This afternoon, we will visit Gordes, one of t he most gorgeous
villages in the Luberon region, and a playground for the rich and famous from the French and American film industry starting in the
1950s.  It was also a location filmed in the movie, "A Good Year".
This evening is your "free night" to choose if you want to
relax at our hotel, eat something light, or simply spend some fun group time together on the grounds of our country home.

Day 6:   Cassis, The Calanques - THURSDAY
Your tour of Provence is coming up to a great finale. First, a visit to Cassis, an ancient fishing spot, today a vacation spot, on the
Mediterranean Sea. You will
embark on a boat to explore the breathtaking Calanques, the Mediterranean version of fjords.
The Calanques are majestic inlets with stunning steep rocky cliffs -- at one time fortified by the Romans.  Remnants of the
fortifications can still be seen.  As the boat departs, be sure to look back towards Cassis at the rock formation on the cliffs known
as "Charlemagne's Crown".   Afterwards, you  will have time to walk round, visit local stores, and have lunch in one of the local
cafés.  (We recommend that you sample a French tradition, ”bouillabaisse”.)  Cassis is famous for its white Wines and you don’t
want to skip that tasting, whether Cassis red or Rosé.
Tonight we will gather for a cooking class and a Gala Farewell
, sharing, laughing and toasting.    (B,D)

Early breakfast at the hotel before you depart for Home or extend your stay to explore and enjoy more of Provence or elsewhere on
your own.
